Sacramento County, CA | 2020
Cascadia Partners recently served as economics and transit-oriented development (TOD) lead on a multi-disciplinary team of planners and designers working for the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) and SacRT, the Sacramento region’s transit agency. CP worked with regional partners and local jurisdictions to develop a five-year action plan for all 54 of the Sacramento region’s light rail transit station areas.
This action plan included a TOD typology that categorized each station area in terms of its market strength and urban form context. This typology was instrumental in identifying policies and implementation measures appropriate for each of SacRT’s stations. In addition to the TOD typology, Cascadia Partners analyzed redevelopment concepts for six underutilized sites in four jurisdictions: the City of Sacramento, Sacramento County, Rancho Cordova, and Folsom. These concepts were used to help those jurisdictions understand the barriers to transit-supportive development that exist in their zoning codes and incentive programs.
